My grandniece, Jadyn Mortensen has literally grown up before our very eyes. I can’t believe that she is 22 years old already. Jadyn is a college student at the University of Wyoming, and is, of course, off for the summer right now. She and her family are planning a vacation soon, but I’m not sure where they plan to go. Nevertheless, they as a fun-loving bunch, so I know it will be filled with lots of activity and plenty of friends. Of course, Jadyn isn’t a shy girl and she makes friends easily, so it will all be great.
I remember when Jadyn was born. Such a sweet little girl. She was a beautiful mix of her parents and just as adventurous. When she was quite young, Jadyn discovered horses, and she was smitten immediately. Her grandpa, Mike Reed and step-grandma, Caryl Reed bought a place outside of Casper, and they had horses, which gave her a place to ride when 
she visited. Her grandparents on the other side had access to horses too, so it was just natural that Jadyn would become rather an expert on a horse. By the young age of nine, Jadyn was already learning the ropes and proving to be a brave little girl. After being thrown once, she decided riding was more important than worrying about it happening again. She got up, dusted herself off, and she climbed right back on, making me and the rest of her family incredibly proud.
For Jaydn, life went on as usual because she was quite the adventurer. She enjoyed most things outdoors and would one day become an adventurer in any kind of extreme sports she could find. She got that from her dad. They are two peas in a pod for sure. Caryl and Mike had a cabin at Seminole Reservoir, and the whole family enjoyed spending time there too. Since she loved being outdoors so much, I often wondered how she could stand to sit at a desk, but not only did she finish high school, but she got a scholarship to the 
University of Wyoming in rodeo. That part didn’t surprise me at all. Her choice of major…engineering was a surprise, but she is a smart girl, and I know that she will continue to do well. Today is Jadyn’s 22nd birthday. Happy birthday Jadyn!! Have a great day!! We love you!!
