My grandnephew, Keifer Balcerzak, became part of our family on June 22, 2002, when his dad, Dave Balcerzak, married my niece, Chantel. Keifer was fourteen at the time, and although he was nearly grown, I had the chance to get to know him while Dave and Chantel were dating. He was a great kid back then and is a respected and honorable man now. His personality these days is much like his dad’s…outgoing and fun to be around. It’s hard to believe all the grandnieces and grandnephews are grown and starting their own lives, but that’s exactly what’s happening. Keifer looks a lot like his dad too…especially the older he gets.
On May 9, 2015, Keifer married his longtime girlfriend, Katie Davidson. After seven years of dating, they already felt like a married couple. They’re such a great pair, and I’m sure their marriage will always be blessed. Even after all that time together, marriage is still an exciting new chapter, and I know they’re loving it. Katie is a great person and the perfect wife for Keifer. Most importantly, she makes Keifer happy, and that means a lot to our family. Now they have two beautiful children, and their family is complete.
Keifer is a devoted dad to his daughter, Reece, and son, Asa. Reece arrived much earlier than expected and had to spend time in Denver, which was a challenging period for Keifer and his wife, Katie. That experience taught him the value of having caring support from those around you. Reece already shares her dad’s love for sports, and it’s likely Asa will too once he’s old enough. Katie is always encouraging of their sporting activities, making them a happy, sports-loving family.
Keifer is a lot like his dad in the area of work too. They are both very tech minded, and work in the area of computer programming and repair. Their work is rewarding and is a good source of support for their families. Not everyone is well suited to tech work, but in 
the case of Dave and Keifer, it seems to be an inherited talent. They say, “like father, like son” and that is definitely the case here for both men. Today is Keifer’s birthday. Happy birthday Keifer!! Have a great day!! We love you!!
