Growing Closer Every Year

With each passing year, I find myself more and more thankful for the marriage of my daughter, Corrie Petersen and her husband, Keving Petersen. They have always been perfect for each other, and they grow closer with each passing year. They have gone through all the normal parts of the wedding vows they took…for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part…well, except for the final vow. They have always been supportive of each other as they have navigated their lives. When Kevin had his health problems, Corrie stepped in to care for him. He is much better, but continues to need some care, though not nearly as much. In fact, Kevin is doing so much better, that when Corrie decided to become a nurse, it was Kevin who stepped in to give her the support she would badly need. Anyone who has obtained a nursing degree can understand just how much work it is to receive this “most difficult degree to receive.”

Kevin is an excellent chef and takes great care of Corrie. Since having her gall bladder removed, Corrie has, of necessity become a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian. That is a diet that excludes meat, poultry, and fish but includes dairy products and eggs. This type of vegetarianism allows for the consumption of plant-based foods along with animal products like milk and eggs, making it one of the most common vegetarian diets. Not eating meat, does not mean that Corrie doesn’t miss the taste of meats, and Kevin has been able to make meals using “un-meats” which Corrie tells me are very good…and I’ll have to leave it at that, since I have no plans to try it…at least not knowingly.

Corrie and Kevin have seven sweet grandchildren, granddaughter, Cambree, followed by grandsons, Caysen, Justin, Axel, Cyler, Cristian, and Graham. They have been very blessed. Having so many grandsons is not surprising since Corrie and Kevin had two sons, Chris and Josh. In fact, getting a granddaughter was the big surprise. Corrie and Kevin also have a daughter-in-law, Athena who is very sweet. In addition to their human family, they have their fur babies, two dogs named Bella and Callie, and a cat named Zoe. The fur babies enrich their lives very much. They have also really become interested in gardening. They like growing vegetables and flowers too. Corrie and Kevin are very happy with their lives these days, and still very much in love after all these years. Today is Corrie and Kevin’s 33 wedding anniversary. Happy anniversary, Corrie and Kevin!! Have a great day!! We love you!!
